The Erie Community College Swimming and Diving team hosted its first event of the season at the Burt Flickinger Center, Dec. 15 against two regional opponents.
"Both the men and women swam excellent tonight," head coach Phil Schneider said. "At this point of the season where their bodies are physically broken down, we swam and dove exceptionally well. The season looks bright for both the men's and women's teams!"
The women's team were a perfect 2-0, while the men's team put up a strong effort despite having to swim shorthanded against Jamestown Community College and Genesee Community College.
The women had totals of 101 and 85 in its pair of victories over the Jayhawks and Cougars, respectively. The men scored 68 and 56 against Genesee and Jamestown, respectively.
"On the women's side, we walked away with six individual wins and one first place finish in a relay. On the men's side, we only had four swimmers swim tonight. We walked away with some great swims. Our men all had best times or close to their best time in every event," Schneider added.
The Kats will also host its next meet, Jan. 14 and host the NJCAA National Tournament, March 1-4, 2017.
