The National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association's 2017 All-Region III Baseball teams were announced with Kats' Marlison Brunken being one of 11 members selected to its first team.
The sophomore from Willemstad, Curacao finished in the Kats' top-three in eight different offensive categories with half of those for the team lead.
Brunken led the team in RBI with 37 and tied for the team lead in hits with 43, with hitting a team-high 12 doubles which was more than double the next closest double total of six.
In addition the native of South America tied for first on the team in triples, while finishing in a tie for fourth in home runs. The result was a slugging percentage that was second on the team at .479.
The versatile second-year athlete who saw action in the infield, outfield and at pitcher finished fourth on the team in batting average (.307) and stolen bases with 10. In addition, his 23 runs on the season were good enough for fifth on the team.
