Erie Baseball Splits With Jackson College

Winter Haven, FL -- Sophomore first baseman Felix Garcia hit his second home run in as many days to power the SUNY Erie (4-1) baseball team to an 18-6 win over Jackson College (3-2) in the nightcap of a doubleheader played in Winter Haven, FL. Jackson took the opener, 10-0.

Garcia finished the game with two hits and four RBI. Erie was trailing 4-3 entering the fourth in-ning but exploded for 10 runs over the next two innings to pull away. Sophomore shortstop Alex Lopez had a double and three RBI. Freshman pitcher Victor Cabrera threw the final four innings to pick up his first win on the mound. He held Jackson scoreless, allowing just six hits and strik-ing out seven.

The Kats were held to just six hits in the opener. Sophomore Willy Arias doubled in his only at bat of the game.

Erie will meet Century (MN) Tuesday, May 13 in a doubleheader. Century is ranked No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Division 3 poll.
