Football Drops Their Second Game of The Year, 37-26

Glen Elyn, IL -- A hot start from the College of DuPage put the Kats down early and despite heating up down the stretch, the Kats couldn't pull out the win, falling 37-26 on Saturday.

A touchdown by DuPage on the first drive of the game would put the Kats down early. The Kats followed that drive with a field goal from Charles Hayes to bring the game to 7-3. College of DuPage would return the ensuing kickoff to extend their lead to 14-3.

A safety by the College of DuPage with a sack on quarterback Jack Edwards and a fumble that rolled out of the endzone would put the Kats down 16-3 heading into the second quarter.

The Kats would find the endzone in the second quarter when an interception by Samuel Fairley would set up the Kats with excellent field position after a 23 yard return to the DuPage 33 yard line. A 32 yard pass from Jack Edwards to Emmanuel Anderson put the Kats on the doorstep of the endzone. Edwards cap off the drive with a one yard touchdown run and a Charles Hayes extra point brings the score to 16-10.

A touchdown from the College of DuPage before the half would send the game into half time with a score of 23-10.

Another touchdown from DuPage put the Kats behind 30-10. 

Trailing bu 20, the Kats looked to the air to gain some ground and found some success when Jack Edwards connected to Emmanuel Anderson for an 11 yard touchdown and a Charles Hayes extra point pulled the Kats closer, 30-17.

An early fourth quarter touchdown from Jack Edwards to Che'kore Moore from 20 yards out made it a one score game, 30-24.

College of DuPage would answer by returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to go up 37-24.

A late safety for the Kats on a bobbled snap by College of DuPage punter Thiago Kapps would make the score 37-26 but the Kats would not be able to capitalize.

Edwards was 29 of 49 for 241 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while Erriono Giardina lead the Kats in receiving with 91 yards on 8 catches.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Kats forced three fumbles and recovered two of them (Miquel Campbell and John Dolac) while racking up two interceptions from Samuel Fairley and Cassius Jackson. The Kats also sacked the quarterback three times.

The Kats take the field again on Sunday October 14th when they travel to St John Fisher to take on St John Fisher's JV program at 1 PM.
