Football Blasts Utica JV To Improve to 3-0

Utica, NY -- The Kats rolled through Utica on their way to a 3-0 start with a 71-13 win over Utica JV on Sunday.

The Kats started hot when quarterback Jack Edwards found running back Seven Turpin for a 69 yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play of the game before conciding a touchdown to Utica to send the game into the second quarter tied.

A 36 point second quarter was the biggest difference maker for the Kats, with Turpin finding the endzone three times on the ground in the quarter. Cody Workman would find Isaiah Brown and RJ Debo for two touchdown passes on the day. Workman would also convert a two-point conversion after a Seven Turpin touchdown run.

The Kats headed into halftime with a 36 point lead but the offense did not stop there. The Kats conceded a touchdown to start the second half but followed it up with 28 unanswered points in the second half. Erriono Giardina would return the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown to keep the points flowing for the Kats.

Jack Edwards would find the endzone for the second time when he hit Isaiah Brown for his second touchdown of the game on a 37 yard pass late in the third quarter.

A 13 yard touchdown run by Joe Floyd and a 47 yard touchdown pass Spencer Loftus to Dashaun Dumas in the fourth quarter would round out the scoring for the Kats.

Seven Turpin would finish the game with 162 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns, leading the Kats in scoring.

While the offense lit up the scoreboard, the defense held the Utica offense in check, sacking the quarterback seven times, including two a piece from Edward Kachmarek and Nate Burnard. Kristian Chavers would add two interceptions for the Kats, neutralizing the Utica passing offense.

The Kats take the field again on September 29th at West Herr Stadium at SUNY Erie South when they host Lackawanna College at 12PM.
