Men's Basketball Advances In NJCAA Tournament With Win Over Morton Community College

Danville, IL -- The Kats high-powered offense lead the Kats to their first win in the NJCAA Division II Tournament on Tuesday when they soared passed Morton Community College, 83-56.

Despite a slow start, the Kats would ultimately get the offense going and build a big lead in the first half. The Kats would shoot 61.5% from the field in the first half to get out to a lead. The Kats would hold that lead using press defense and ball movement to tire out the Panthers.

Five Kats would score in the double digits, lead by 14 points from Kyle Harris and Mohamed Diakite. Jonathan McDonald would add 11 points while Michael Motley and Shevon Anisca would add 10 points. McDonald would lead the Kats in rebounds with 12 while the Kats outrebounded the Panthers 36-24.

The Kats will take on Milwaukee Area Technical College Thursday at 8PM Central/9PM Eastern in the second round of the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.
