SUNY Erie Community College will welcome more than 200 student-athletes from 23 different colleges across the country when it hosts the 2019 NJCAA Men’s and Women’s Bowling Championships this Friday-Saturday, March 1-2. The tournament will take place at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga.
This year’s tournament will begin with the doubles competition at 8 a.m., Friday. It will be followed by the singles event and the first half of the five-man competition on Friday. The tournament concludes Saturday with the second half of the five-man competition and the Baker event.
Highland College (IL) is the defending men’s champion. The 2018 competition was one of the closest finishes ever as Highland outdistanced second place Ancila College (IN) and third place Iowa Central Community College by 26 and 41 pins, respectively.
Schenectady County Community College won its fourth consecutive national championship in 2018 on the women's side. The Royals were followed by Ancila and Highland as the top three finishing teams.
