Erie Completes NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a Ninth Place Finish

Fort Pierce, FL -- An NJCAA All-American performance by sophomore Allie DeBiase highlighted the final day for Erie Community College at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Fort Pierce, FL.

Erie’s men’s and women’s teams each finished ninth in the team competition. Indian River State College won both the men’s and women’s championships.

DeBiase saved her best for last. The Newfane High School alum finished top-six in the country in all four individual events she competed in, including Saturday’s fourth place finish in the 200-Yard Breaststroke. She touched the wall in 2:31.28. DeBiase has left her mark on the Kats’ rec-ord book. She owns six individual school records and is a part of four record-holding relay teams.

Sophomore Tabby Smith completed her career with another strong meet. On Saturday, she set the school record in the preliminaries of the 50-Yard Butterfly (28.46) and 100-Yard Freestyle (56.53). She finished 12th in the 50 Fly and 11th in the 100 Free. Smith leaves Erie as a holder of four individual school records and is a part of four record-holding relay teams.

Also on Saturday, the women’s 400-Yard Freestyle Relay team of Smith, Haley Roblee, Abbie Ettinger and DeBiase took eighth with a school-record time of 3:53.53.

On the men’s side Jonathan Pilat, Greyson Louth and Dominic Bubb finished 10th (50.48), 13th (52.16) and 15th (52.48), respectively, in the 100-Yard Freestyle. Charlie May touched 14th in the 200-Yard Backstroke in 2:04.09. Casey Rosinski took fifth in the one-meter diving competi-tion with 325.25 points.

Sophomore Brad Zifra took 13th in the 200 Breast in 2:16.32. Zifra scored in all four individual events he entered in the meet. he leaves Erie with three individual school records and is a member of one record breaking relay team.
