Buffalo, NY -- The Kats held on in a close game Saturday as they defeated the Mercyhurst North East Saints, 64-61.
After a rocky start, giving up 9 unanswered points to start the game, the Kats tightened up and clawed their way back into the game.
Tied at half at 36, the Kats would edge out the Saints in the third quarter and send the game into the fourth with a 50-48 lead.
In the fourth, the Kats would eventually take a nine point lead before the Saints would begin to fight their way back. A one point game in the final fifteen seconds was extended when Nukia Funderburk would hit two clutch free throws to extend the lead to three before Janae Brannon would steal the ball from Nia Phillips and solidify the win for the Kats.
The Kats next game is Monday February 18th at 5:30 when they travel to Jamestown Community College.
