Buffalo, NY- The Erie women's basketball team defeated Hocking Community College 70-66 to close out the semester with a win. The Kats came out flying, building an 11 point lead before Hocking netted their first basket. After both teams settled in, the first half ended with Erie up 34-31.
Hocking would control the third quarter before Erie would get the momentum back in the final quarter to finsish out the win.
Scoring their hightest point total of the season, three Kats were in double digit scoring and rebounds. Leading the offense in scoring was Caroline Zanghi with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Jameelah Gaines contributed all around with 15 rebounds, nine assists and nine points. Nukia Funderburk added 13 and Jaila Payne had 12.
The ladies will return to action after the holidays when they host Westmoreland County Community College on January 11th at 1:30pm.
