Buffalo, NY -- SUNY Erie women’s bowling coach Tom Ruggiero welcomed one of the top high school girl’s bowlers in the state to his program today when Emily Crone signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play for the Kats.
Crone led her Cheektowaga High School team to a NYSPHSAA Division 2 state championship this past weekend in Syracuse. With more than 300 competitors, her 216.7 average was higher than any boys or girls competitor at the tournament.
At the Section 6 Tournament in February, Crone finished fifth out of more than 250 girls to lead Cheektowaga to a Section 6 Division 2 championship.
Crone joins Cassandra Green as the second commit to the Kats’ program this offseason. Green, from Pioneer High School, also competed at the state tournament this past weekend and was a top-25 performer in the Section 6 Tournament.
Regarded as one of the top college programs in the country, Erie women’s bowling team has won 29 NJCAA national championships.
