Dryden, NY -- The Kats high powered offense struggled against one of the top defenses in the country as they fell to Rowan College at Gloucester County (NJ) 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
Rowan jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 17th minute, using the wind at their back to their advantage with long passes to set up a breakaway. The Roadrunners would add a second goal in the 41st minute to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
The second half was a full effort from the Kats, pressuring the defense of the Roadrunners and their keeper. The Kats used long passes and corner kicks to keep pressure on the keeper but couldn't find the back of the net. The Kats would pull their keeper to add a forward and continued to pressure until the last second.
The Kats will continue play in the consolation bracket when they take on Montgomery tomorrow at 12:30PM.
