Orchard Park, NY -- “We played a very tough and organized team today. We struggled at times. The fact that we came through with the result is something we can certainly grow from." said Coach Gary Boughton after the Kats scored four second half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Hudson Valley Community College.
At the half, the Kats were tied with Hudson Valley, 0-0. Jill Spangler would break the tie in the 58th minute when she put a pass from Annaliese Ziemann in the back of the net. Spangler's tie breaker would be the spark the Kats needed as Jena Schelble would score 20 minutes later on a pass from Alyssa Siracuse.
Two goals from Ciera Lundy down the stretch would put the Kats up 4-0 and give them the win. Goalkeeper Gabi Gray would stop four shots on her way to the cleansheet victory.
“It’s an extremely tough stretch of the season for us, and we’re battling a lot of injuries. The fact that these ladies just keep working so hard through the tough times is something I’m proud of. Today was certainly one of those times. Credit to Hudson Valley.” said Boughton.
The 11-0 Kats take the field again on Friday October 5th at 2:30 PM when they host SUNY Broome at SUNY Erie South Campus.
