Women's Soccer Opens Season With Two Wins On The Road

The Kats opened the season with a 12-0 win over Clinton Community College on Saturday and a 5-0 win on Sunday over North Country Community College.

Jill Spangler would lead the Kats against Clinton Community College with four goals and two assists. Rachel Kostelney and Jena Schelble would each add two goals. Rachel Fiore, Hannah Parucki, Alyssa Siracuse and Annabelle MacIntosh would round out the scoring for the Kats. Goalkeepers Amber Grabp and Gabi Gary would split the clean sheet in net.

“Obviously getting out the gate with a hot start on the scoresheet is great, but what I really liked was the discipline to exactly what we’ve trained the last few weeks leading to the success. It was a fantastic team win, and hopefully we keep it rolling" said coach Gary Boughton on the win.

The Kats kept the offense rolling when they met North Country Community College on Sunday. Jena Schelble would add two more goals to her weekend while Jill Spangler, Britini Bailey and Myah Gargano would add a goal each to round out the scoring. Gabi Gray would get the clean sheet in net.

"I can’t ask for much more than getting the performances we got from our girls in back to back games. They brought an intensity and focus that we strive for daily" said Boughton on the two game road trip. "For us, it’s about taking each game one at a time, as we understand the process of building each time we take the field to achieve our goals this season. I couldn’t be happier for the girls to start the season this way."

The Kats continue their season on Thursday August 30th when they host Mercyhurst North East at 5PM.
