The Erie Community College baseball team equaled a season-high win streak with three consecutive wins April 22-23. The trio of wins over Corning Community College (6-18) puts the Kats just one game shy of .500 in Region III Western standings at 9-10. A .500 record could move the Kats up a couple spots in the west where they are currently sixth, percentage-wise.
The last three wins produced 28 hits and 28 runs for the Kats with home runs in each win along with some solid pitching.
In the matinee win April 22, the Kats plated 10 hits in a 9-2 victory with homers from William Arias and Kevin Koziol. Willy Arias led the team in hits with three, including a triple. Koziol and Coyote Sokolski both recorded a pair of hits. Felix Garcia, Mike Cecchetto and Jordan Huber also each added a hit, while Gabe Seijas earned the win on the bump with a two-hit performance.
On April 23, pitcher Mike DeLeo picked up where Seijas left off in also allowing only a pair of hits, while registering 10 strikeouts in a 6-0 shutout win in the first of two games Sunday.
William Arias had the lone home run and led the team in hits with two along with Darin Geska, with the latter registering a double and triple. Also getting a double was Bam Ruggiero, while singles came from Marlison Brunken, Willy Arias and Sokolski for eight hits total for the Kats.
Erie wrapped up its third win with a matinee 13-4 victory with Luke Bowser earning the win on the mound. The Kats recorded 10 hits with Brunken getting the homer, William Arias a triple and Alex Lopez a double. Ruggiero, Geska and Garcia each pounded a pair of hits, while Cecchetto added a single.
The Kats' current streak is their fourth of the season and brought their overall record to 16-21.
