Buffalo, NY -- Tavien Kemp, a former standout guard at Archbishop Walsh High School, has signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent to continue his education and play basketball at Erie Community College in 2018-19.
Kemp was a First Team All-Western New York and a First Team All New York State selection in 2017 after scoring more than 33 points per game for Archbishop Walsh his senior season.
He is currently attending prep school at The Hotchkiss School in Salisbury, CT. This past year he captained the basketball team to a 14-9 record and was an Honorable Mention All-New England Preparatory Athletic Council selection.
Kemp joins an Erie team that returns four of its top five scorers from a year ago when the Kats won the Region 3 championship and finished sixth at the NJCAA Division 2 National Championship.
Erie Head Coach Alex Nwora will be entering his 20th season in 2018-19. Already the longest tenured coach in program history, Nwora has a 371-170 coaching record with the Kats.
