Buffalo, NY -- Following a NJCAA Region III tournament win over Monroe Community College, the SUNY Erie Kats have punched their ticket as the 13th seed to the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship in Dansville, Illinois on March 20th.
The Kats will open play for the tournament when they take on fourth seed Louisburg (NC.). Louisburg were the NJCAA Div. II runners up last season, falling to Southwestern (IA.) 77-53 in the finals.
Louisburg comes into the tournament averaging 95.1 points per game, with 10 returning players from last year's team. Take a look at who the Kats will be facing:
Player to watch for Louisburg:
Jordan Oakley (Forward) - Oakley is averaging 18 points per game this season, leading Louisburg, while shooting 57.8 from the field. Oakley also leads in rebounds per game, averaging 7.9.
Lewis Freeman (Wing/Forward) - Freeman is second in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game.
Mikell Watkins (Point Guard) - Watkins averages 7.7 assists per game, running the Louisburg offense, while adding 8.9 points per game.
In their sixth trip to the NJCAA tournament under head coach Alex Nwora, The Kats will look to shut down Oakley and company while also playing to the Kats strengths.

Kyle Harris (Guard) - Harris leads the Kats with an average of 14.7 points per game and 2.0 assists per game.
Kasey Walker-Gregg (Guard) - Walker-Gregg has been surging as of late, putting him in second in scoring with an average of 14.2 points per game. Walker-Gregg also averages 3.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game
Shevon Anisca (Forward) - Anisca is a force in the paint, averaging 12.6 points per game while leading the Kats with 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Kats will look to use their ball movement and ability to attack from multiple areas of the court to defeat Louisburg.
