Hockey Extends Winning Streak To Six

The Kats kept their winning ways up with two victories, 3-2 (OT) and 5-2 over the University of Pittsburgh on the road this weekend.

On Friday night, the Kats trailed 2-0 after the first period. The Kats would cut the deficit to one in the second period when Michal Swacha would score his ninth goal of the season on a pass from Joseph Giordano. The Kats would tie the game in the third period with a goal from Timothy Pellitieri to send the game to overtime.

Pellitieri would score the overtime winner for the Kats just over two minutes into overtime. Jeffery Gardner would be in the winning goaltender with a 46 save performance.

Saturday's contest would not be as close, as the Kats jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first with goals from Anthony Cybulski, Jacob Green, and Brendan McFall.

The University of Pittsburgh would score one in the second to put some pressure on the Kats, but the Kats would answer in the third with two goals, with William Shaffer and Joseph Giordano to put the Kats at 5 goals. The University of Pittsburgh would add one more but it would not be enough as the Kats would win 5-2. Goaltender Chase Ford would make 54 saves on 56 shots for the win.

The Kats are back on the ice on Friday, January 26th when they travel to Fredonia for a 9:30PM faceoff.
