Erie Community College to Host NJCAA Bowling and Swimming and Diving Championships in March
Four national champions will be crowned on March 4 in Buffalo, NY as Erie Community College will host the NJCAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships and the NJCAA Men's and Women's Bowling Championships.
More than 400 of the top junior college bowlers and swimmers from around the country will descend upon Western New York for these events. Past competitors in these championships include Olympic swimmers Brad Tandy and Gideon Luow as well as PBA Bowlers Ryan Ciminelli, Ryan Shafer and Ronnie Russell.
"We are excited to host these championships. These are two great events that have a real positive impact on our student-athletes and our region," said Erie Director of Athletics Steve Mullen. "This is the first time we have been able to host these events since the pandemic. These championships provide great exposure of our city and region to student-athletes and fans from around the country and the world."
The NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will take place at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center on Erie's City Campus March 1-4. Erie last hosted the swimming and diving championships in 2019. Preliminary sessions will start at 9:30 a.m. each day and finals sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. daily. All session passes are $35 and can be purchased at the door. Indian River State College (FL) is the defending men's and women's champion.
The NJCAA Bowling Championships will be hosted at Airport Lanes on March 2-4. This will be the 38th year that Erie has hosted the bowling championships and the first time since 2020. Admission to the bowling championships is free. Rock Valley College (IL) is the defending men's and women's champion.
