Pignone Named Co-Freshman Athlete of the Year
Lakeview, New York native and freshman shortstop Ashlyn Pignone was a key contributor to Erie Softball's outstanding season, helping lead the Kats to a Region 3 Championship a trip to the NJCAA tournament. For her exceptional performance, Pignone was named Co-Freshman of the Year by the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC).
At the plate, Pignone ranked third in the region with an impressive .469 batting average and was a model of consistency throughout the season. She compiled a remarkable 35-game hitting streak that lasted until the final game of the national tournament. Her strong defensive play at shortstop, combined with her offensive production and leadership, made her an integral part of Erie's championship run and established her as one of the top freshmen in the conference.
