Kats Come Back to Earn Split with Jamestown Community College
Erie baseball continued this year's trend of splitting their double headers, falling to Jamestown Community College in game one before rebounding in game two.
The Kats took the lead in the top of the first inning of game one but could not hold on and fell to JCC 6-4.
Carter Arbuthnot led the Erie offense with two hits in three at bats. Nolan Evans took the loss, pitching two and a third innings, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out three.
It looked like the Kats might suffer the same fate in game two after giving up an early lead but Erie broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning when Tyler Wilson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. They would add two more in the seventh to take the game 7-4.
Billy Quinn was credited with the victory. The ace went two and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one. Isaiah Salas threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Salas recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Erie.
Arlain Sesin led the offense, going three of four at the plate including a home run in the seventh.
Erie will play host to Jamestown on Sunday for another pair of games at 1:00 and 3:30 pm.
