It was a sunny but chilly day for baseball at Erie North Campus on Saturday where Erie split their double header with Niagara County Community College.
Despite out-hitting Niagara in game one nine to six, the Kats watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-2 loss. Carter Whitehead, Andrew Nantau, Adam Rankie, and Liam McMurray all had multiple hits. McMurray, Rankie, Nantau, and Whitehead all had two hits to lead the Kats.
Dylan Moorhouse took the loss for Erie CC Kats Varsity. Moorhouse allowed six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six.
Erie kept their bats going in game two to win 10-4. The Kats secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the first inning. The offensive firepower was led by Greg Hare, Christian Cabrera, Tyler Kerl, Harold Torres, Nantau and Rankie, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Ryan Moran earned the win. The pitcher allowed five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out two. Sam Calcaterra threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Erie returns to the field on Tuesday, April 5, when they host Finger Lakes Community College.
