The Erie Community College baseball team continues to rack up the wins, extending their unbeaten streak to fourteen games with a pair of wins over Genesee Community College on Tuesday.
The Kats snatched the lead late in game one to take a 3-2 victory. The pitching was strong on both sides. Connor Desiderio earned the win on the mound for Erie, lasting seven innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out three.
Greg Hare and Christian Cabrera each collected one hit for Erie who was sure-handed in the field where the team did not commit a single error.
Erie took the second game by a score of 7-2. Erie scored in each of the first four innings to take a 6-0 lead before Genesee got on the board.
Sam Calcaterra was on the mound, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five. Ethan Stevens threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Kats racked up nine hits in the game. Adam Rankie and Harold Torres all managed multiple hits with Torres hitting the only home run with a four bagger in the second inning. Rankie led the team with three hits in four at bats.
The Kats record is now 35-10-1. They travel to Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday for a double header with first pitch at 1:00 pm.
