Erie Baseball Struggles Against Monroe Community College

Bats were blistered on Friday but Erie couldn't quite get the job done against Monroe CC and lost 18-10 in game one of the douoble header played at North Campus. Each team collecrted nine hits in the high scoring game.

Erie got on the board in the second inning after Adam Scibetta drew a walk, scoring one run but Monroe flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring seven runs on one hit to take the lead, 7-1.  Monroe's other big inning occured in the top of the sixth inning when they  scored nine runs on five hits.

The Kats would attept to ansewer back scoring seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jorden List tripled, scoring three runs, John Callahan doubled, scoring one run, Matt Coughlin singled, scoring two runs, and James Buettner singled, scoring one run.

Aiden Piccolo started on the hill for Erie. The pitcher gave up one hit and seven runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Ethan Mcilwaine took the loss for the Kats. The hurler went three innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking two. 

Nick Gold took the mound in game two.  The starter went six innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking one as Erie lost 4-0.

Scibetta, Callahan, and Konner Hauck each collected one hit for Erie CC Kats.

Erie will travel to Monroe for a pair of games on Sunday, April 6th.  First game is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
