Erie Get Win in Walk-Off
Erie staged a dramatic comeback Friday night, rallying late to defeat Lake Region 13–10 in walk-off fashion.
Trailing by three runs entering the bottom of the ninth, the Kats erupted for eight runs on six hits to flip the game and secure the victory. The decisive moment came when Jim Buettner launched a three-run home run to left field, sealing the win and sending Erie home in dramatic style.
Buettner powered the offense throughout the game, finishing 2-for-4 with five RBIs. Zach Bedard also drove in five runs while collecting three hits, and Tyler Pagano added three hits of his own as Erie piled up 17 hits in the contest. Elijah Williams, Nolan Nobile, and Layne Staubitz each contributed multiple hits in the offensive outburst.
Erie trailed early after Lake Region built a lead through the middle innings, including a six-run sixth inning. The Kats continued to chip away before delivering their explosive ninth-inning rally.
On the mound, Jaden Korpan started for Erie and worked five innings, allowing four runs while striking out three. Reece Boyle earned the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings with two strikeouts to keep the Kats within striking distance heading into the final inning.
The Kats continue their spring games when they take on Anoka Ramsey on Saturday.
