Kats Struggle in Red Zone in Home Opener Loss

Orchard Park, NY- Totaling 405 total yards of offense, Erie Community College moved the ball well against Hocking College of Ohio but failed to find the end zone on more than one occasion. The Kats dropped the season opener 14-7 at West Herr Stadium on Saturday.

Erie Community College quarterbacks, sophomore Spencer Loftus and Freshman Connor Jones, combined to throw for 286 yards while sophomore running back Kahalil Horton ran for 112 to lead the offense.

Hocking opened the scoring in the first quarter with a Tony White III 18 yard run capping a 75 yard drive.

The Kats would respond with a long drive of their own to begin the second quarter when Loftus connected with Horton for an eight yard touchdown pass.   Erie would put together several promising drives but two missed field goals and two interceptions would deny any more points on the board.

Hocking completed the scoring when Kenyadu Hollins caught a White III pass and ran it in for a 57 yard touchdown completion.

The Kats will play again on September 14thwhen they travel to Hudson Valley Community College.
