Kats Earn First Win of the Season

Alfred, NY- The Erie Community College football team earned its first victory of the season with a 22-14 win over Alfred University JV on Sunday. 

Sophomore quarterback Spencer Loftus threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns while also running one in from the one yard line to lead the way for the Kats. 

The Kats also compiled 138 yards on the ground led by David Morgan who ran for 46 yards on the day. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Alfred opened the scoring with a touchdown in the second quarter.  Erie got on the board before the end of the half with a Dawson Evans 31 yard field goal.

The Kats took the lead in the third quarter with the Loftus one yard TD run. They expanded on the lead in the fourth when Loftus found both Chandler Baker and Kullan Jamieson in the end zone.  

Alfred managed one final touchdown with just over two minutes remaining before the Kats defense held strong for the win.

Erie travels to Scranton, PA for a matchup against Lackawanna College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
