The Erie men's basketball team traveled to Port Huron, Michigan to take part in the Skippers Holiday Classic. The annual event included Erie Community College, Alpena Community College, Oakland Community College, and St. Clair County Community College.
On Friday night, the Kats handled business with a 107-86 victory against Oakland Community College. The Kats built a nine point lead at the half with A'Mage Tate putting up 14 of his 29 total points. Hugo Silva had 12 of his 17 total points in the first half to help build the lead. The second half would see Waseem Ajeigbe put up nine of his total 16 points to round out the top three Kats scorers for the game. Michael Duviella also put up double-digits for Erie with 12 points.
Hoping to keep the momentum on Saturday, Erie took the court to take on home team St. Clair County Community College. The Kats were unable to stop the high powered Skippers, falling 103-72. This time it was the Kats who would find themselves down at the half as were doubled up 52-48 while allowing the Skippers to shoot over 50% from behind the arc. The Kats made a strong push in the second half but were unable to a complete comeback. The leading Kats scorer was Dray Akin with 26 points and eight rebounds. Ageigbe added 11 while Tate put up 10.
Erie stays on the road for a contest at Finger Lakes Community College on Thursday, December 7th for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
