The Erie Community College Men's basketball team hosted a hot Corning Community College Barons team on Wednesday night with the Kats falling to the Red Barons 83-80. In a game that saw five lead changes and five ties, the difference came down to Erie's inability to finish their shots. The team was strong under the rim, grabbing 51 rebounds but could not capitalize.
Erie found themselves down by 11 at one point in the second half but kept fighting to close the gap and drew within three points before Corning finished by hitting two free throws.
Sophomore Olivier Ngarukiyintwari led the Kats with a double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. David Stroud scored 14 points and had seven rebounds. Jabar Wheatley contributed 12 points along with three rebounds and three assists to help off the bench.
Erie takes the court again on Saturday when they will travel to Cayuga Community College for a 3:00 pm tip-off.
