Erie Names New Bowling Coach

Buffalo, NY- SUNY Erie is proud to announce David Zajac as the college's new men's and women's head coach for bowling. 

A former Erie bowler himself, Zajac led the team last season when the Covid pandemic forced all matches to take place virtually.  

His past coaching experience include head women's coach at Daemen Collge, head varsity bowling coach for the Ken-Ton School District and assistant coach at Niagara Community College. 

During his Kats career, Zajac was named to the Region III All-Tournament team and the NJCAA All-American team for both the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 season.   He captained the Erie team during the 2010-2011 season and helped lead that team to the NJCAA National Champtionship. He finished that season 88th overall in the Country for average.  

"Since the inception of the Erie Community College men's bowling program in 1967 there has only been two Head Coaches, the program's founder Coach Kerm Helmer and his predecessor Coach Roy Decibus, who have amassed countless championships over the last fifty-four years." said Zajac of his appointment.  "It is not very often that you are presented with the opportunity to be a part of the next chapter in such an illustrious collegiate programs coaching staff, but when you do you are sure to take on the challenge. It is my honor to be named the new Head Coach of the Erie Community College bowling program."
