Erie Bowling Posts Strong Weekend at Tiger Cup and Brick City Classic
The Erie Community College men's and women's bowling teams turned in a productive and encouraging weekend as they competed in both the Tiger Cup and the Brick City Classic. With every member of the men's roster seeing action and the women's team delivering a standout Sunday performance, the Kats continue to build momentum early in the season.
Men's Results
At the Tiger Cup, the Erie men placed fourth overall, led by an outstanding performance from Zachary Spengler, who finished 7th individually with 850 pins. Right behind him was Marc D'Amico, who claimed 8th place with 838 pins.
The men followed that up with a strong showing at the Brick City Classic, finishing third in a competitive field. Spengler once again paced the Kats, earning an 8th-place finish with 917 total pins.
Head coach David Zajac was encouraged by the depth and development shown across the roster:
"The entire men's roster hit the lanes in both of the events this weekend. The men's varsity squad battled both days, making a late charge at the top 2 in the Brick City, but we know we left some pins out there throughout both days. Seeing every player in action was invaluable to us coaches as we now have a month till our next event to work on what each player needs to improve on."
Women's Results
The women delivered grit and improvement throughout the weekend, highlighted by a strong Sunday finish.
At the Tiger Cup, the women secured a third-place finish, led by Olivia Marello, who placed 6th overall with 617 pinsto pace the Kats.
At the Brick City Classic, the women stepped up even further, earning a second-place team finish. Olivia Bell made the most of the performance, earning her first-ever All-Tournament Team recognition.
Coach Zajac praised the resilience of the women's squad:
"These events are typically difficult for the ladies teams, as unlike other events, they bowl on the same lane pattern and lanes as the men's teams. However, the ladies did not give up either day even when things were not going their way. Sunday they were able to put together a solid showing with a 2nd place team finish and Olivia Bell making her first ever All Tournament Team."
Erie Bowling now enters a month-long training window before returning to competition, with both teams looking to build on the momentum gained from this weekend's events
