Erie Men's Bowling Win Region 3 Championship, Women take Second
The Erie Community College men's bowling team captured its fifth straight (27th overall) Region 3 championship Sunday afternoon at Tonawanda Bowling Center. Meanwhile, the women's team brought home hardware as well with a second place finish.
The team swept the top three spots in both the singles and doubles events as Erie's men won the championship by nearly 700 pins. Nick Galligan won the singles title (917 pins) as well as the All-Event's competition (1,765 pins). Alex Sandford (812) and Jacob Clark (792) pins rounded out the top three singles.
Jake Racsumberger and Dylan Wesolowski combined to win the doubles event with 1,661 pins. Nick Biondolillo and Clark (1612) were second and Sandford and Galligan (1547) finshed third.
Galligan, Clark, Zach Spengler and and Biondolillo were named to the All-Region team.
Erie's Olivia Bell and Olivia Marello each earned All-Region honors for the women. Marello took second in the singles competition with 707 pins, followed by third place Bell with 671 pins. The two combined for 1,322 pins to finish second in the doubles competition.
