The Erie Community College hockey team continued its strong start to the season with two dominant wins over the weekend.
On Friday, the Kats defeated Canisius College 6-2, powered by Kevin Rieman's hat trick and Mac Ward's two goals and an assist. Freshman goaltender Grayson Suttell earned the win in net with a steady performance.
Erie carried that energy into Sunday's matchup, cruising past Gannon University 8-1. Ward once again led the way with two goals and two assists, while Mark Klubek added two goals. Freshman Dylan Gerth got the start in goal and turned in a strong outing , making 18 saves in the win.
Head coach Bill Orr said, "It's early in the season, but I really like how our team is playing. We still have a few things to improve on, and we've been down a player or two each game, but the guys have stepped up and competed hard. The effort and chemistry are there — we just need to keep building on it."
The Kats are rolling early in the season and look to keep their momentum going as they head into the next stretch of games. Erie will be on the road on Friday at Jamestown Community College and then travel to Hobarth on Sunday.
