Ward and Rieman Earn AAU All-American Honors, Lead Erie to Semifinal Run
Erie hockey’s dynamic duo of Mac Ward and Kevin Rieman earned national recognition following a standout season, being named to the AAU Division II All-American teams.
Ward, a sophomore from Getzville, New York, was selected to the First Team after a dominant all-around performance. He recorded 63 points in 21 games, including 31 goals and 32 assists, averaging 3.0 points per game while serving as a consistent offensive catalyst.
Rieman, from East Aurora, New York, earned Second Team All-American honors after an equally impressive campaign. He matched Ward with 63 points in 21 games, but made his mark as a pure goal scorer, netting 36 goals to go along with 27 assists, also averaging 3.0 points per game.
Together, the duo powered Erie to a 14-7-1 record and a trip to the semifinals, forming one of the most dangerous offensive tandems in the region.
Competing on the national stage in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), both players stood out among the top talent in Division II, earning recognition among the nation’s best.
Erie also battled through the highly competitive Upstate New York Collegiate Hockey League, where their high-powered offense played a key role in the team’s deep postseason run.
The All-American selections for Ward and Rieman highlight not only their individual excellence, but also the strength of Erie’s program during a memorable season.
