After struggling offensively all season, the Erie men's soccer team exploded for a total of seven goals in two games to earn a tie and victory.
On Saturday, Erie hosted Clinton Community College, tying the Cougars 2-2. After Clinton got on the board first with a goal in the 28th minute of the first half, Erie would tie it up in the 79th minute. Just over three minutes later the Kats would take the lead 2-1 but could not hold on as the Cougars would capitalize on a penalty kick 88th minute for the tie.
On Sunday, Erie welcomed North County Community College and defeated the Saints 5-4 to earn their first victory of the season. Erie would again give up the first goal of the game, this time just two minutes into the contest. The Saints would add another in the 13th minute before the Kats would explode for four goals to take a 4-2 into halftime. Erie added one more in the second half before North Country would score two in an attemp a come back but the Kats held strong for the win.
Leading the way for Erie was freshman Kabare Mwami who found the back of the net four times in the two matches including a hat trick against North Country. Other goal scorers include Jeremie Kabongo, Niolis Adriantsoa and Eugene Tuyishime.
The Kats will be back in action on Saturday when they host SUNY Niagara at 12:00 pm.
