One of New York State's top high school divers, Erik Herrero, has signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent to attend college and compete at SUNY Erie Community College for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
"This is a major signing for our program," said Erie head swimming and diving coach Phil Schneider. "He will have an immediate impact in our region and at the national level. I'm extremely excited to see what he does this year on the boards."
Herrero was a two-time state qualifier on the one-meter board for Shenendehowa High School and placed 15th at the 2019 state championships.
He will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Erie.
Erie's diving program has become one of the tops in the NJCAA – winning at least one Region 3 championship in each of the last three years.
