Erie Swimming Dominates at Herkimer Invitational
Erie Community College turned in a dominant performance at the Herkimer College Invitational on Saturday, winning the combined team championship with 265 points and powering to a decisive men's team victory with 224 points. The Kats collected event wins across the board, highlighted by multiple standout performances from Tristen Madden, Aidyn Malek, Peyton Jeris, Jharee Hollingsworth, and freshman Lexi Oldman.
The Erie men were nearly unbeatable throughout the meet, sweeping both relays and posting first-place finishes in the majority of individual races.
Freshman Tristen Madden led the charge with wins in the 200 freestyle (2:05.77), 100 backstroke (1:00.21), and 200 backstroke (2:16.80), while also contributing key legs on both winning relays. Aidyn Malek added victories in the 500 freestyle (6:09.10) and helped pace both relays, while also taking second in a tightly contested 200 freestyle.
Peyton Jeris continued Erie's momentum with a win in the 100 butterfly (1:02.74), a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley, and strong relay contributions. Jharee Hollingsworth delivered a victory in the 100 freestyle (1:05.83) and added points with a third-place finish in the 50 free.
Erie swept the podium in several men's events and captured both relay titles, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:57.82 and closing the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.67).
On the women's side, Lexi Oldman led the Kats with a trio of strong swims, including a commanding win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:34.81. Oldman also placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:20.74) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:25.96). Her efforts helped Erie finish third in the women's standings.
