The Kats battled through a busy five-game weekend, showing resilience at the plate and flashes of strong pitching while going 2–3 over the stretch.
Erie opened the weekend on Friday with a matchup against Alexandria Tech. The Kats fought back to tie the game in the fourth inning when Justin Refermat grounded into a fielder's choice that brought home a run, evening the score at 2–2. Refermat led Erie with two RBIs while John Callahan collected two hits and, along with Adam Scibetta, swiped multiple bases as the Kats were aggressive on the base paths with four steals. Despite the effort, Alexandria Tech pulled away late and Erie dropped the contest 9–3.
The Kats bounced back Saturday in a high-scoring battle, edging out Northland CTC 9–8. Erie exploded for five runs in the second inning to seize momentum, highlighted by a three-run triple from Jaxsyn Moritz. The Kats finished with 13 hits in the win, with Layne Staubitz leading the way with three hits while Callahan and Zac Chrystian each added multiple hits. Erie built a 9–5 lead before holding off a late rally to secure the victory.
Later Saturday, Erie again squared off with Northland CTC but came up just short in a tight 6–5 game. Carter McBurneydelivered a strong performance at the plate, driving in three runs, including a go-ahead single in the second inning. Chrystian paced the offense with three hits while Ryan Boyle added two. The Kats collected 11 hits in the contest but could not overcome a late push by Northland.
Sunday's action featured a pair of games against Century. In the opener, Erie collected nine hits but fell 10–5. Noah LaPierre and Elijah Williams each recorded two hits, with LaPierre driving in two runs. Defensively, the Kats were sharp, committing no errors in the field.
Erie closed the weekend on a high note in the finale, shutting out Century 6–0 behind a dominant performance on the mound from Rafael Smith. Smith tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out nine over seven innings. Offensively, Boyd Dela Vega powered the Kats, driving in four runs on two hits, including a clutch double in the sixth inning. Callahan, Staubitz, and Dela Vega each recorded two hits while Erie again pressured the defense with five stolen bases.
The Kats now turn their attention to their next matchup as they play North Dakota State College of Science.
