SUNY Erie Baseball put together a dominant day at the plate on Thursday, sweeping a doubleheader from Onondaga CC with 13-6 and 9-4 victories.
In game one, the Kats broke things open with a huge third inning, scoring six runs to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 7-2 lead. Layne Staubitz delivered the key hit in the frame with a two-run single as Erie seized full control of the game.
Tony Weber earned the win, allowing just two runs over four innings of work. Kieran Glassford and Jaden Korpan provided relief to secure the victory.
Offensively, Noah LaPierre and Nolan Nobile each collected two hits, while LaPierre, Zack Bedard, Justin Refermat, and Staubitz all drove in two runs. Erie showed strong discipline at the plate with nine walks and added pressure on the bases with four stolen bases, including two from Kaleb Locatelli.
In game two, Erie once again used a big inning to take control, plating multiple runs in the third to build an early lead. The Kats capitalized on patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks and consistently putting pressure on Onondaga pitching.
Liam McMurray earned the win with a strong outing, allowing just three hits and four runs—none earned—over seven innings while striking out four.
LaPierre continued his strong day at the plate with two hits, while Adam Scibetta and LaPierre each drove in two runs. Jim Buettner added four walks as Erie's disciplined approach fueled the offense. Defensively, the Kats turned two double plays to back their pitching effort.
