The Erie CC Kats are moving on after a dominant sweep in the NJCAA Region III Division III Sub-Regional, punching their ticket to the Region III Final Four.
Erie controlled the series on both sides of the ball, taking Game 1 by an 11-2 score and following it up with a 10-8 win in a high-scoring Game 2.
In the opener, the Kats broke things open with a five-run fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Zack Bedard. Erie added five more in the sixth and received a strong outing from Nick Gold, who allowed just two runs over six innings. Bedard, Jim Buettner, and Elijah Williams each drove in three runs as Erie totaled 12 hits in the win.
Game 2 featured an offensive explosion from Noah Lapierre, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and four singles to set the tone. Adam Scibetta delivered the biggest swing of the game with a grand slam, finishing with five RBIs as Erie again piled up 17 hits. Rafael Smith earned the win on the mound.
Across both games, Erie's offense combined for 29 total hits, while the pitching staff held steady in key moments to close out the sweep.
With the victory, the Kats advance out of the Sub-Regional and into the NJCAA Region III Final Four, where they will continue their postseason run from May 14–16.
