Erie Football Edges Brockport JV 23-22
The Erie Kats football team survived a furious fourth-quarter rally to defeat Brockport's JV squad 23-22 this weekend. Erie controlled the first half, building a 16-2 lead at the break with steady play on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Noah Willoughby led the offense, completing 18 of 25 passes for 130 yards with one touchdown and one interception. On defense, Shamir Land provided a huge spark in the second quarter, returning an interception 44 yards for a touchdown to extend the Kats' early lead.
Brockport came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points to nearly steal the game. With just over a minute remianing Erie's defense stopping Brockport on a two-point conversion attempt to preserve the one-point victory.
The hard-fought win gives the Kats another boost of confidence while underlining the importance of finishing strong as they continue their season. Erie remains undefeated with a 4-0 recored on the season. Up next, the Kats will travel to Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, September 27th for a 12:00 pm kick-off.
