SUNY Erie Cross Country Opens Season at Hilbert
August 30, 2025
The SUNY Erie cross country teams kicked off their 2025 season at the Meghan Memorial Invitational, hosted by Hilbert College.
Lukas Heerdt was Erie's lone men's competitor and made a solid collegiate debut, placing 15th overall with a time of 20:07.
Emma Palumbo led the charge for the Erie women, placing 4th overall with a time of 23:15—nearly two and a half minutes faster than her time at last year's Meghan Memorial. The next three Kats ran as tight a pack for most of the race, with Alondra Morales placing 10th in 36:27, Erik Blersch close behind in 12th at 36:52, and Gianna Brooks finishing 14th in 37:55.
"It was a very positive opening meet all the way around," said Head Coach Chris Muldoon. "I'm happy with how everyone executed their race plans, and it sets a solid foundation for the season. We were missing a few athletes today, but we'll be back to full strength in two weeks for Finger Lakes."
The SUNY Erie cross country teams return to action on Friday, September 13, at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational, hosted by Finger Lakes Community College. The meet will serve as an early-season benchmark against NJCAA Region 3 competition.
