SUNY Erie cross country continued its 2024 campaign at the Kara Hall Memorial, hosted by SUNY Fredonia. On a sunny and unseasonably warm day, the invitational featured a mix of NCAA, NJCAA, and club programs.
Men's 8K
Erie's duo of Lukas Heerdt and Janek McLeod ran smart, patient races. Heerdt finished in 99th place in 34:07. McLeod placed 101st, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 34:57.0.
"The guys ran well in the hot conditions," said Head Coach Chris Muldoon. "The way they both moved up in the last 3k shows that we're strong and learning how to race smart."
Women's Team Update
The Erie women's team did not compete at Fredonia, as several athletes were managing injuries or recovering from illness.
"We decided to hold out the women and get healthy before racing again," Coach Muldoon added.
